Peter Liu is a social media consultant, professional photographer and veteran of more than 30 years in the computer industry. He began his career as a freshman at Pomona College in the late 70′s working part time as an assembler language systems programmer at the college computer center.
After graduation, he worked in technical support and information technology at Syncsort in New Jersey, then moved to the Bay Area to work for Amdahl in the late 80′s, where he made the transition to Unix systems administration and was introduced to the Internet and the World Wide Web.
He later joined Netscape, the company that brought browsers to the world, where he managed a worldwide, high-touch, advanced technical group responsible for supporting their web server software implementations in Fortune 500 companies. After Netscape was acquired by AOL, Peter joined Sun Microsystems as a Sustaining Engineering Escalation Manager to help support those same companies.
Peter has followed the growth of the Web first hand from the trenches, embracing Web 2.0 and social media from the beginning. After leaving the industry in 2004, he moved to Maui, Hawaii, where he is a consultant to individuals and businesses in assimilating computer and Internet technologies into their workflows and strategies.
