Social Media Workshop Feb. 10

Maui Economic Development BoardA friend of mine, Kim Haueisen (@AlohaKim), asked if I would consider doing a 2-hour workshop on social media for local Maui businesses at High Tech Maui, a program of the Maui Economic Development Board.

We’ve scheduled it for February 10th.

My intention is to make it an informal conversation about what social media is for those who are unfamiliar, or perhaps afraid, or just wondering what all the hype is about. A lot of people are somewhat technology averse on the island, but when they find out I’m involved in social media, I’m pelted with questions, particularly from business owners who are concerned they may be missing the boat by not getting into it.

During this workshop, I’ll be giving some straight scoop, dispelling some myths, and providing as much guidance as I can to help people decide whether social media should be a part of their business strategies going forward, and how to proceed.

Registration is free, and limited to 22 people, as we want to make it a true conversation where everyone gets a chance to comment and ask questions, so sign up quickly if you’re on the island. There are two sessions: the first runs 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, and the second runs from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

I just read that the original schedule is already full and so MEDB (I am assuming with your ok) scheduled a second session (which I registered).

Now, I can say “I TOLD YOU SO”? Yep, Maui is ripe for social media. A lot of interest going on. And that’s good for Maui.

    Aloha!
