Another Real Estate Social Media Success Story

Realtors® Association of MauiLast month, I blogged about my friend Lee Potts’ success story using social media in his work as a Realtor®.

Today, I caught a Facebook post by my friend and fellow social media practitioner, Jonathan Rivera, who is also a Realtor®, about a friend of his, Tim Moore, who sold his house in 50 hours using social media. It’s another great example of what can be done when you harness the power of a well developed social graph.

Here are Jonathan’s takeaways from the case study, and Tim’s own post telling the story. Jonathan also did a great interview with Tim on Real-TechGuy Radio.

If you have any success stories, please leave a comment. We’d love to hear them.

Aloha Realty Group: A Social Media Success Story

Here’s a great example of a social media success story in the real estate industry.

Lee Potts, a Realtor® friend of mine in Maui, had an aggressively priced, bank approved short sale where the bank dragged its feet and they lost the buyer. To add insult to injury, the bank threatened to foreclose on it in a short period of time.

Having had conversations with me about social media over the last several months, he decided to see if he could use it to help the situation.

He shot a video of the property with his Flip camera and posted it to YouTube,  then set up a landing page on his website with the embedded video. Then he blogged about the listing and the situation, and sent out an email blast to his clients and fellow agents.

I’d set up FriendFeed for him a while back, and that carried the video and the blog post into his Facebook profile.

The result, more than 200 views on YouTube over a weekend. He held open house and had 4 offers.

Lee achieved this by simply using some of the tools at his disposal and counting on his social graph and viral media to do the rest. Imagine what he could achieve with a fully leveraged social media online presence.

Great job, Lee!
